Video: 11 Players Ejected from Georgia vs. Mississippi State After Collision at Plate

The Georgia baseball team scored the winning run in the ninth inning of Saturday's 3-2 victory over Mississippi State, but much of the drama came before that in the eighth inning.

As Benjamin Rosenberg of The Dispatch relayed, the benches cleared in the top of the eighth inning when Georgia pinch-runner Dillon Carter was thrown out at home trying to score from first base.

Mississippi State catcher Johnny Long stood over Carter and exchanged words with him after tagging him out, which prompted the benches to clear. In all, there were 11 ejections, and Mississippi State had just two starters in the lineup for all nine innings because of it.

That will be an even bigger issue in Sunday's rubber match, as everyone ejected is also suspended for the next game.

"Not one of those kids who got kicked out was aggressive," Mississippi State head coach Chris Lemonis said. "Nobody started a fight. They were on the field. They were coming off the field to congratulate their teammate, and my entire lineup gets taken out? That's what we're teaching kids? Somebody who interpreted the rule, that's interpreted the wrong way."

Georgia took advantage in the final frame of Saturday's matchup, as Clayton Chadwick launched the go-ahead solo home run before Brian Zeldin shut down the remainder of Mississippi State's lineup with three strikeouts in the bottom of the ninth to clinch the win.

The two SEC teams finish the series Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
