Breakker, Corbin Beat Frazer, Axiom to Retain NXT Tag Titles at Stand & Deliver 2024

Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin defeated Nathan Frazer and Axiom to retain the NXT Tag Team Championships at NXT Stand & Deliver on Saturday.

Frazer might have thought he was safe from danger when he countered out of Corbin's End of Days finisher. But he instead positioned himself perfectly for a devastating spear by Breakker that helped the champions hold onto the gold.

When Breakker and Corbin began teaming as part of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, they were something of an odd couple, and it didn't seem as though they were necessarily ticketed for long-term success.

However, their comedic and in-ring chemistry resonated with fans, and The Wolfdogs quickly became a beloved tandem.

Breakker and Corbin ran the table in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and beat the team of Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams at Vengeance Day in February to win the Dusty Cup, and they went on to beat Tony D'Angelo and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo for the NXT tag team titles shortly thereafter.

As Stand & Deliver was approaching, several teams expressed a desire to challenge The Wolfdogs, which led to general manager Ava setting up a series of matches to determine the No. 1 contenders.

Frazer and Axiom, who began tagging together regularly in January, were among the teams who wanted their shot at tag team gold.

The high flyers beat No Quarter Catch Crew members Charlie Dempsey and Myles Borne, and then on the final episode of NXT before Stand & Deliver, they defeated the teams of Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, and LWO members Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro to earn their title opportunity.

Stand & Deliver represented a clash of styles since Frazer and Axiom are smaller wrestlers who primarily rely on speed, while Breakker and Corbin are two of the most powerful Superstars that NXT has to offer.

Because of the various skill sets involved in Saturday's bout, there was some thought that the two teams would have a chance to steal the show.

While it is up for debate if they did that, there is no question that both teams represented the NXT tag team division well, although it was Breakker and Corbin who prevailed.
