Find out with this collection of insider innuendo.
Stone Cold, John Cena to Appear at WrestleMania 40?
1 of 3WWE celebrates 40 years of WrestleMania on Saturday and Sunday, April 6 and 7, and fans may see some familiar faces pop up on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that the current card has an "open slot" on it, with John Cena and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin as two names to keep an eye on.
A decade ago, Austin kicked off WrestleMania 30 alongside The Rock and Hulk Hogan, celebrating the first three decades of the event. It would make sense for him and Cena, two stars indelibly linked to the marquee show to be involved with its ruby anniversary.
Austin was last seen two years ago at WrestleMania 38, where he made his first in-ring appearance in 19 years by defeating Kevin Owens in the main event of night one. It was a triumphant return that earned The Texas Rattlesnake rave reviews from fans, analysts, and his peers alike.
Cena last appeared in 2023, helping to lend legitimacy to LA Knight as a main event competitor and putting over Solo Sikoa at the Crown Jewel premium live event.
Both would pop the crowd in Philadelphia and provide that spark of nostalgia that WWE loves to lean on from time to time. As a celebration of the company's long history and the prestige of the event, their appearance would make perfect sense.
Drew Barrymore Set to Appear
2 of 3
Drew Barrymore may not be the first celebrity one would think of when discussing professional wrestling, but the star of The Wedding Singer and Scream is expected in Philadelphia for WrestleMania 40, per Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com.
Barrymore recently served as a "positivity coach" for The New Day's Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E and is expected to do some promotional work with the group while in town for the show.
A quick cameo in a backstage vignette, or a simple shot of her in the front row sounds about right.
She is not the only celebrity who will attend the event.
Rapper Lil Wayne will be in attendance, he revealed Monday on Raw during a backstage vignette with Jey Uso.
WrestleMania has a long history of celebrity involvement and in many ways, has been defined by it. From Mr. T, Cyndi Lauper, Liberace, Billy Martin, and Muhammad Ali's appearances at the first event to Mike Tyson, Lawrence Taylor, Bob Uecker, Logan Paul, Bad Bunny, and Johnny Knoxville's showings over the years, the show has thrived on its ability to mesh professional wrestling with notable mainstream personalities.
Barrymore and Lil Wayne, perhaps Philly's own Meek Mill, will only ensure that trend continues under the Triple H regime.
Speaking of potential celebrity appearances...
WWE Has Reached Out to Jason Kelce
3 of 3
Jason Kelce is one of the greatest centers in pro football history and a sure-fire first-ballot Hall of Famer.
He also played his entire career in the city of Philadelphia, during which he showcased an enormous personality that would fit right in with the world of professional wrestling.
It is no surprise that WWE officials have contacted the beloved athlete to appear at WrestleMania 40, as reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select.
Kelce has already proven that he is not afraid to dress up and cut wildly passionate pro-wrestling-style promos, as evidenced by his mic work during the Super Bowl championship parade after the 2018 season or tear his shirt off and party with fans, ala his appearance at this past season's AFC divisional round playoff game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills.
He is a character and WWE loves bringing in celebrities who are unafraid to be big, loud, and expressive.
That he is as popular as he is, and forever will be, in Philadelphia only serves to make a potential appearance that much more fun.
