Eagles Legends Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson Help Rey Mysterio Win at WWE WrestleMania 40

Philadelphia Eagles legends Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson helped Rey Mysterio and Andrade defeat Santos Escobar and Dominik Mysterio in a tag team grudge match on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40 on Saturday.

The NFL stars appeared ringside wearing green Eagles luchador masks. Kelce then shoved Dominik Mysterio face-first into the corner ring post before tossing him back onto the canvas.

Mysterio and Andrade did the rest of the work. Mysterio hit a double 619. Andrade hit The Message on Dominik, and Rey hit The Flying Splash on Escobar for the win.

The appearances from the recently retired Kelce and Johnson, who still mans the right tackle spot in Philly, made fans happy, including New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson:

One year ago, Rey and Dominik clashed in only the second father vs. son match in WrestleMania history. And while their feud is still alive and well, one of The Master of the 619's greatest allies has become a mortal enemy since last year.

As a member of the Latino World Order, Escobar helped Rey beat Dominik at WrestleMania 39, but their relationship soured over time and imploded coming out of Crown Jewel in November.

During a United States Championship match between Rey and Logan Paul, Escobar left brass knuckles on the apron, and Paul used them to beat Rey for the title.

It initially seemed as though it was an accident on Santos' part, but LWO member Carlito called him out on the ensuing episode of SmackDown, and Escobar showed his true colors by attacking Carlito and then Rey.

Escobar's actions put Mysterio on the shelf for months with a knee injury, and during the WWE Hall of Famer's absence, Escobar officially left the LWO and reformed Legado del Fantasma from his NXT days with Angel, Berto and Elektra Lopez.

While Rey was gone, Dragon Lee stepped up as an ally to the LWO and defended his idol's honor, along with Carlito, Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro.

Rey made his return to WWE programming in March, which set the stage for a match against Escobar on the March 22 edition of SmackDown.

A masked wrestler got involved in the match, helping Escobar pick up the victory, and when he took the mask off, he revealed himself to be Dominik Mysterio.

In an effort to get revenge on Escobar and settle his rivalry with Dom once and for all, Rey challenged them to a tag team match at WrestleMania and chose Lee as his tag team partner, naming him the newest member of LWO in the process.

However, Lee was attacked backstage at SmackDown, ending his 'Mania hopes. Andrade joined LWO on the same night and replace Lee in this bout.

Both teams had plenty to prove in Philadelphia, but it was Rey who got the last laugh and helped elevate Andrade in the process.
