Luka Dončić's 47 Points Excite NBA Fans as Mavs Snap Rockets' 11-Game Winning Streak
The Houston Rockets' 11-game winning streak was no match for Luka Dončić.
The Dallas Mavericks star racked up 47 points as the Rockets defeated the Rockets 125-107 Sunday night.
Dončić made nine threes while adding 12 rebounds and seven assists in the victory.
Dončić's explosive night started with him racking up 32 points in the first half.
He finished the contest having shot 18-for-30 from the field, and 9-for-16 from deep.
It seemed there was no shot Dončić couldn't make Sunday, starting with a trick shot in warmups:
...and ending with a one-handed underhand scoop shot during the game.
Mavericks point guard Kyrie Irving added 24 points in the victory.
He and power forward P.J. Washington combined for seven three-pointers, while Dončić's nine made him the most prolific scorer from behind the arc in Mavericks history.
Dončić's dominant performance led fans to decide he has won the race for the 2024 NBA MVP Award.
The Mavericks star has finished in the top 10 of MVP voting in each of the past four seasons but has never won the award.
Dončić's MVP campaign, and the Mavericks' push to steal the No. 5 seed in the West from the New Orleans Pelicans, will continue Tuesday as the team heads to the West Coast to take on the Golden State Warriors.
