Steph Curry Jokes Warriors May Need to Stay at Hotels Before Home Games Due to Record

Andrew PetersMar 31, 2024

Though the Golden State Warriors have struggled this year, the team has found more success on the road than at home.

Per The Athletic's David Aldridge, Warriors star Steph Curry joked that the team could benefit from staying in hotels before home games to simulate the road environment.

"Being comfortable in hostile environments, being comfortable in allowing your defense to travel and being able to rely on that, whatever the case is, it's the polar opposite of last year," Curry said. "I was joking that we might need to stay in hotels in San Francisco the night before home games and act like it's a road game, take the bus in."

The Warriors, who are 39-34 on the season and sit in 10th place in the West, are 18-19 at home, but 21-15 on the road. Last year, they were 33-8 at home but an abysmal 11-30 on the road, a complete flip from this season.

Of Golden State's final nine games this season, five will be on the road, giving it the chance to continue its strong play away from home and find a groove before the postseason begins. The Warriors are a game and a half behind the ninth-seeded Los Angeles Lakers, but just a game ahead of the 11th-seeded Houston Rockets. At this point in this season, every game matters for Golden State to secure a Play-In tournament spot.

If the Warriors can continue their strong play on the road while also picking up some crucial wins at home, they should be able to keep their position.
