Video: Canelo Álvarez Rips Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul, Says Fight Isn't Good for Boxing
Canelo Álvarez has no interest in watching the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight.
The super middleweight champion ripped the upcoming bout, saying it's bad for the sport of boxing.
"Not at all. No, nothing. ... I think Netflix is good for boxing, but that special fight, I think Netflix is doing something wrong there. I think Netflix being involved, yes, is good, but not in that kind of fight. I think it's more of a show than a fight," Álvarez told TMZ Sports.
Paul has called out Álvarez on a number of occasions, but it does not appear Álvarez takes the YouTuber-turned-boxer seriously. He told TMZ Sports he's not interested in that "type" of fight.
It's far from the first time Álvarez has made his negative opinion of Paul abundantly clear. While Paul has become one of the biggest names in boxing—so much so that he landed a fight against Tyson—Álvarez seemingly finds the spectacle off-putting.
Of course, it's unlikely Paul or Tyson care given the millions they're set to rake in from the July 20 fight set for AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
