Jayson Tatum, Celtics Praised by NBA Fans for Dominant 3Q in Win vs. Zion, Pelicans
The Boston Celtics picked up a solid win over the New Orleans Pelicans Saturday afternoon 104-92.
It was win-by-committee for Boston, which had all five starters in double figures in the game. Jayson Tatum led the way with 23 points, Kristaps Porzingis had 19, Jaylen Brown put up 17, Derrick White notched 15 and Jrue Holiday scored 13.
But it was the Celtics' defense that powered them to the win. Boston held New Orleans to just 11 points in the third quarter, allowing it to pull away and coast in the fourth quarter.
After the game, fans praised the Celtics for a strong defensive performance.
With the win, the Celtics improved to 58-16 on the season and still hold a firm lead in first place in the East. Boston is clearly the frontrunner in the East at this point, and a win over the Pelicans further established that.
Saturday's matchup was the fifth game of a six-game road trip, and the Celtics have gone 3-2 during that stint. Boston will close out the road trip against the Charlotte Hornets on Monday.
