Thomas signed his first 10-day deal with the Suns on March 20. He appeared in their game against the Philadelphia 76ers later that same day. It was his first appearance in an NBA game since April 10, 2022, when he was a member of the Charlotte Hornets.

After sitting out the next four games, Thomas made his second appearance for the Suns in Friday's loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. He scored five points in eight minutes.

Despite not playing in the NBA for nearly two full years, Thomas has been around the game of basketball. The 35-year-old was playing for the Salt Lake City Stars in the G League prior to signing with the Suns.

In four games with the Stars, Thomas was averaging 32.5 points on 44.6 percent three-point shooting and 5.3 assists. He was brought in to provide additional backcourt depth behind Devin Booker, Bradley Beal and Eric Gordon.

NBA rules allow teams to sign a player to up to two 10-day contracts. At the end of the second deal, a player must be signed for the remainder of the season or become a free agent.

Thomas' second deal will end on April 9. The Suns will have four games remaining in the regular season, including a matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers on April 9, at that point.

The Suns are currently in seventh place in the Western Conference standings with a 43-31 record. They are only 1.5 games behind the Dallas Mavericks for the sixth seed to avoid the play-in tournament, but they're also tied in the loss column with the No. 8 Sacramento Kings.
