Dejounte Murray: 'I Got Another $10K' for Hawks Fan Who Hit Half-Court Shot on Video
Dejounte Murray is feeling good amid the Atlanta Hawks' four-game winning streak, which includes two victories over the Boston Celtics.
A fan at State Farm Arena hit a halfcourt shot during a timeout in Thursday's game between the Celtics and Hawks to win $10,000.
Murray wrote on X that he's "got another" $10,000 for the fan if he can track down his contact information.
It's not hard to figure out why Murray would be in such a good mood. Not only are the Hawks playing arguably their best basketball of the season, but he hit the walk-off jumper in a 123-122 overtime win over the Celtics on Thursday night.
The game-winner capped off a night in which Murray scored a career-high 44 points, including all 11 the Hawks had in the overtime period. He did need 44 shots to reach that total.
Russell Westbrook is the last player to attempt at least 44 shots in a game. He went 17-of-44 with 51 points for the Oklahoma City Thunder in a 113-110 win over the Phoenix Suns on Oct. 28, 2016.
Thursday marked Murray's third game with at least 40 points since March 8. He is averaging 29.2 points on 47.1 percent shooting (40.5 percent from three-point range), 9.1 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game in his last 11 starts.
The Hawks are still five games under .500 (34-39), but this winning streak has solidified their standing as a play-in team in the Eastern Conference. They lead the Brooklyn Nets by six games for the No. 10 seed and are only one game back of the ninth-place Chicago Bulls for home-court advantage in the 9-10 play-in game.
It doesn't seem like Murray should have much trouble getting in touch with the fan who had a lot to celebrate on Thursday night. If he does, though, hopefully that person has friends who have seen the offer from the Hawks star and will make him aware of it.
