Jayden Daniels Talks Raiders as Draft Landing Spot; Antonio Pierce Coached QB at ASU

Erin WalshMar 27, 2024

The Las Vegas Raiders are in the market for a quarterback ahead of the 2024 NFL draft, and it's possible they could move up from pick No. 13 to land one of the best signal-callers available in Jayden Daniels.

Daniels actually has a prior relationship with Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce, too, which would make for a great reunion.

Pierce recruited Daniels to Arizona State before he committed to the program in 2019, and the two still have a solid relationship despite the quarterback transferring to LSU ahead of the 2022 season.

When asked Wednesday by NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe what if would mean if the Raiders moved up to draft him and reunite him with Pierce, Daniels responded, "That would be crazy. ... That's out of my control, so I don't stress on stuff like that, but that would be crazy if that happened."

The Athletic's Tashan Reed reported Friday that the Raiders will explore trading up to select a quarterback, though it's unclear if the franchise has its sights set specifically on Daniels.

Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department ranks Daniels as the third-best quarterback available in the 2024 draft class behind UNC's Drake Maye and USC's Caleb Williams on its latest big board.

If the Raiders don't move up, it's unlikely Daniels will be available when they're on the clock at No. 13 as the Chicago Bears (No. 1), Washington Commanders (No. 2), New England Patriots (No. 3), New York Giants (No. 6), Minnesota Vikings (No. 11) and Denver Broncos (No. 12) could all be in the market for a quarterback this spring.
