Odell Beckham Jr. Has Dolphins Contract Offer in NFL Free Agency, Mike McDaniel Says

Tyler ConwayMar 25, 2024

Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel confirmed the team offered wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. a contract following his visit last week.

"Things went great with him," McDaniel told reporters Monday. "We did make him an offer and business takes time, especially with players such as Odell, who's had a phenomenal career, still has really good football in front of him and has options. So, I think those conversations will be ongoing. We'll see where they go."

Beckham, 31, spent the 2023 season with the Baltimore Ravens. He recorded 35 receptions for 565 yards and three touchdowns after signing a one-year, $15 million contract.

The Dolphins are looking for a No. 3 receiver behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle after Cedrick Wilson Jr. left for the New Orleans Saints in free agency. While it's possible Miami addresses the position in the draft, adding a veteran like Beckham could bring some extra dynamism to the Dolphins' already explosive offense.

After starting his career with one of the best three-year stretches in NFL history, Beckham has seen his production taper due to injuries. He's suffered two different ACL tears, one of which cost him the entire 2022 season, and also dealt with foot problems. Only once in the last six seasons has Beckham played every game.

Miami has been relatively quiet in the free-agent market this offseason. The team signed linebacker Jordyn Brooks, center Aaron Brewer, cornerback Kendall Fuller and tight end Jonnu Smith to modest multiyear contracts but has otherwise stuck to one-year pacts with veterans.

Beckham would likely follow the same path and would be due a significant reduction in salary from 2023.
