Under Armour All-American Game 2012: QB Jameis Winston Will Steal Show
The Under Armour All-American Game will have a number of young football players that will impress college recruiters, media personalities and fans in attendance. However, from watching the last practice before the game, quarterback Jameis Winston will be the player that comes out of this game with the most hype surrounding him.
Winston dazzled in a quarterback challenge, bombing a 70-yard throw in his final pass to a streaking receiver. The pass brought out cheers from the surrounding players, who watched Winston unleash his cannon throw to end the day.
The Orlando Sentinel caught up with Winston after his throw, when the quarterback was all smiles, saying that he could have thrown the ball deeper than 70 yards.
"If it had been a spiral, it would have been farther," he said. But he also said he could live with a 70-yard toss. "Yeah, that’s not bad," he said with a laugh.
Winston will come out of this Under Armour All-American Game with people talking about the way this kid has a flare to show off for the crowd and for his players on the field.
Winston said to the Sentinel:
"I’m not trying to be the class clown. That’s just how I am. I’m going to be me, that's who I am, and that’s my personality. … just having fun. One thing [my teammates] also know is that I’m going to try to perform on the field too. It’s not just [this] all the time.
"
Winston’s huge game and flashy play will turn up the heat on the recruitment of the senior from Hueytown, Alabama. However, Winston is almost committed to play at Florida State next year.
He has yet to sign any formal letter of intent or make an official visit to Tallahassee to visit the Florida State campus. However, Winston is very sold on the Seminole program, and he expects to be committed to the program in 2012.
"I’m excited," he said. "I’m really excited to go on my official, so I can see if I feel that same feeling I felt when I went down there before."
There will be a lot great players on the field in the Under Armour All-American Game, a number of which will become highlight-reel players. However, with Winston’s big arm and his flashy play, he will be the person everyone is talking about after the game.
