Mavs Hire Private Chef to Cook for Kyrie Irving During NBA Star's Ramadan Fast

The Dallas Mavericks have gone the extra mile to accommodate star Kyrie Irving as he observes Ramadan.

Brian Dameris of Bally Sports Southwest detailed how a personal chef has accompanied the eight-time All-Star on the road to help with his meals:

Ramadan is a holy month but also presents a challenge to Muslim athletes around the world as they're required to fast from dawn to sunset every day. Staying hydrated can be particularly tricky over the course of the day.

Irving said this week it's "nothing short of a miracle" he's able to maintain his regular playing time without his usual level of nutrition.

Observance of Ramadan began on the evening of March 10. You wouldn't have assumed anything was different for Irving based on his performance since then. In five games, he has averaged 25.0 points and 7.0 assists while shooting 52.2 percent from the floor.

That run included a miraculous game-winner against the reigning NBA champion Denver Nuggets.

Maybe the Mavericks should give Irving's personal chef a raise.
