NBA Legend Michael Jordan Sees Similarities Between Himself, Anthony Edwards

Erin WalshMar 19, 2024

NBA legend Michael Jordan has officially confirmed that there are comparisons between his and Anthony Edwards' games.

"I reached out to the GOAT today, Michael Jordan," Chris Broussard said on FS1's First Things First. "And Jordan said there are similarities in their games. He agreed. So, if Jordan says there are similarities, there are similarities."

Edwards, who is emerging as a superstar for the Minnesota Timberwolves, has been receiving Jordan comparisons all season given his mindset, style, athleticism and his overall game.

The comparisons between Edwards and Jordan began to heat up in November when one NBA scout told ESPN's Tim MacMahon that Edwards is "the next Michael Jordan."

Milwaukee Bucks veteran Patrick Beverley also told reporters in November that he "told everyone from the beginning" that Edwards "has a chance to be Michael Jordan."

"People looked at me like I was crazy," Beverley added.

Edwards' viral dunk over Utah Jazz veteran John Collins on Monday night even drew a comparison to the Chicago Bulls legend:

Edwards is carving out his own path to NBA greatness, though, and he said while speaking with Speedy Morman of Complex in December that wanted the Jordan comparisons to stop.

"I just want them to stop," Edwards said. "Because he's the greatest to ever play basketball and I'm so far from it."

Edwards, 22, is averaging 26.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 65 games this season while shooting 46.7 percent from the floor and 37.0 percent from deep.

In part thanks to Edwards, the Timberwolves sit second in the Western Conference with a 47-21 record and have a legitimate chance to make a run to the NBA Finals.
