Mike Williams is headed to the Meadowlands.

The former Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver is signing a one-year deal with the New York Jets, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, giving quarterback Aaron Rodgers another weapon to work with in his return from a torn Achilles next season.

Williams' deal is worth up to $15 million, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

New York Jets 2024 Salary Cap

Prior to Williams' deal, the Jets had $9.6 million in cap space, according to Spotrac.

The Chargers released Williams last week as he was set to count for $32.46 million against the cap in 2024. Rapoport noted at the time that L.A. was interested in bringing Williams back but that he was expected to test the market.

Williams was selected seventh overall in the 2017 draft out of Clemson and he spent the first seven seasons of his career with the franchise. His best season came in 2021 when he caught 76 passes for 1,146 yards and nine touchdowns in 16 games.

The 29-year-old is solid when healthy, but he has struggled to remain on the field over the last two seasons.

Williams was limited to 13 games in 2022 due to an ankle sprain and appeared in just three games last season due to a torn ACL. He caught 19 passes for 249 yards and one touchdown in 2023.

The Jets will be hoping Williams can stay healthy next season and serve as a top target for Rodgers alongside Wilson, who has recorded back-to-back 1,000-plus yard campaigns to begin his career.

There's likely some room for Gang Green to add another wide receiver as injury insurance if needed. Hunter Renfrow and Michael Gallup are among the players still available.
