Shams: T-Wolves' Anthony Edwards Aims to Start for Team USA on 2024 Olympic Roster

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is eyeing more than just an NBA championship, he's looking for a spot on Team USA's roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Edwards doesn't just want to make the roster, though, he "fully wants to go and compete to start on the team," The Athletic and Stadium's Shams Charania reported Tuesday on FanDuel TV's Run It Back.

Edwards is quickly emerging as one of the faces of the NBA—He most recently put the league on notice with a highlight reel dunk over Utah Jazz veteran John Collins on Monday night.

However, he's going to have the difficult task of competing with the likes of LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday, Devin Booker and more for a position in Team USA's starting five.

That said, landing a starting role won't be impossible for Edwards, especially if he continues his meteoric rise to stardom.

The 22-year-old, who has been considered the next Michael Jordan, is averaging 26.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 65 games while shooting 46.7 percent from the floor and 37.0 percent from deep for the 47-21 Timberwolves.

Even if he doesn't land a role in Team USA's starting lineup, his role off the bench will be invaluable as the Americans go for gold this summer.
