Falcons' Kyle Pitts Jokes About Targets With Kirk Cousins Set to Wear No. 18 Jersey

Andrew PetersMar 18, 2024

Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts was willing to give his number to new quarterback Kirk Cousins in exchange for "targets every game."

Now, it seems he'll keep his No. 8 jersey, as Cousins will wear No. 18.

Though Cousins may be sporting a new jersey number in 2024, Pitts expects he will still receive targets every game this season, hinting at it on social media on Monday.

In his third NFL campaign in 2023, Pitts notched 667 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 90 targets. His targets dropped significantly from his last full season in 2021, when he had 110 targets, picking up 1,026 yards and a touchdown.

Now with a new quarterback under center, Pitts is hoping to see more balls thrown his way in 2024.

Cousins, who signed a four-year deal worth up to $180 million with the Falcons last week, is looking to form a connection with Pitts and find success with his new team. Cousins had 2,331 passing yards, 18 touchdowns and five interceptions last season, playing just eight games before a torn Achilles sidelined him for the remainder of the year.

The four-time Pro Bowler had three consecutive seasons with more than 4,000 passing yards prior to the 2023 season, and he's looking to return to form when he's healthy and back on the field in a new uniform this year.

Cousins is hoping to get Atlanta back to the playoffs for the first time since 2017 next season. He seems to be winning his teammates over so far, letting Pitts keep No. 8, and that chemistry might go a long way on the field.
