Tennis Star Carlos Alcaraz to Be Subject of Netflix Docuseries 'Alcaraz'

Erin WalshMar 14, 2024

Carlos Alcaraz made his Netflix debut earlier this month with a 3-6, 6-4 (14-12) win over 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal in the inaugural Netflix Slam in Las Vegas.

Now the Spaniard is getting his own Netflix series.

Netflix has announced a new docuseries that will follow the rising star, who has already won two Grand Slam titles and became the youngest world No. 1 in the history of men's tennis, according to Chris Gardner of the Hollywood Reporter.

The docuseries, dubbed Alcaraz, began filming at the Netflix Slam and will continue to follow the 20-year-old throughout the 2024 season. It promises to "get closer than ever before to one of the best athletes in the world."

"I am very happy for this experience with Morena Films and Netflix. People are going to get to watch everything you don't see on a tennis court. I think it's something very different. I hope you enjoy this series as much as I will," Alcaraz said in a statement.

Alcaraz is currently competing in the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells. He will face Alexander Zverev in a quarterfinal matchup on Thursday.

There are several more tournaments on the men's tennis schedule before the next Grand Slam in May, the French Open at Roland Garros, which runs from May 26 to June 9.
