As Kirk Cousins prepares to join the Atlanta Falcons for the 2024 NFL season, much attention will be given to the status of his injury recovery. Fortunately for Falcons fans, it appears to be going well.
He met with the media for the first time following his new contract Wednesday and said that he hopes to be "full speed" before the conclusion of the team's offseason workouts.

He did not reveal how far along his recovery from his torn Achilles was going, but did add that he is "taking drops and throwing the football" and that "there's really no problem with that at this point."
Cousins missed the final nine games of the 2023 season with the injury. Before that, he had 2,331 passing yards, 18 touchdowns and just five interceptions and had led Minnesota to a 4-4 record.
He has a 76-67-2 overall record as a quarterback with 39,471 career passing yards and 270 touchdowns. He has been named to the Pro Bowl four times and should immediately be one of the best quarterbacks in the NFC South.
He joins an Atlanta team that went 7-10 in 2023 and missed the postseason for the sixth consecutive season. This comes despite some talented offensive playmakers, including wide receiver Drake London, tight end Kyle Pitts and running back Bijan Robinson. Cousins will be a huge upgrade at the quarterback position and could help Atlanta take a step towards winning the NFC South.
