Steve Kerr: Warriors 'Primed' for Deep NBA Playoff Run with Healthy Stephen Curry

Timothy RappMar 12, 2024

The Golden State Warriors are currently just 34-30 on the season and the No. 10 seed in the Western Conference, though a five-game lead over the Houston Rockets means they'll almost assuredly qualify for the Play-In Tournament.

And head coach Steve Kerr believes the imminent return to superstar guard Stephen Curry will propel the team on a deep playoff run:

Curry, 35, has missed the past two games with a sprained ankle, though he's been cleared to return to on-court activities this week and will join the team for a practice on Friday, per Kendra Andrews of ESPN.

Surprisingly, the Dubs are 4-1 this season when Curry is unavailable, though nobody would predict the team do do much in the postseason without his 26.9 points, 4.9 assists and 4.9 made threes per game.

Even with him, the Warriors seem like a long shot to make a run. The team is currently a combined 3-4 against the Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers this season, the three other teams currently in Play-In Tournament seeds as of Tuesday. They have five more games against the Mavericks and Lakers down the stretch, which likely will play a big part in postseason seeding.
