Saquon Barkley Calls Out Giants Legend Tiki Barber Over Criticism for Eagles Contract

Doric SamMar 11, 2024

After leaving the New York Giants to sign with the division rival Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, star running back Saquon Barkley drew the ire of former Giants running back Tiki Barber.

"You're dead to us, Saquon. Good luck, you're dead to me," Barber said during his show on WFAN Sports Radio.

Barkley didn't take kindly to Barber's comments and responded on social media:

Barkley signed with the Eagles on a three-year, $37.75 million contract after spending the first six seasons of his career in New York. He took more shots at Barber, who played for the Giants from 1997 to 2006:

Barkley had previously expressed an openness to continue his career with the Giants. The team had the opportunity to place its franchise tag on him for the second straight year but opted not to, leaving the door open for him to test free agency.

By joining the Eagles, Barkley is now a member of one of the top contenders in the NFC. He should thrive in an offense that is filled with talent and led by quarterback Jalen Hurts and receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.

Philadelphia is just one year removed from a Super Bowl appearance, so the team is surely motivated to get back to the Big Game. Adding a dynamic talent like Barkley surely boosts the Eagles' chances in 2024 and beyond.

The Giants agreed to sign former Houston Texans running back Devin Singletary to a three-year deal to replace Barkley. Singletary has experience playing under head coach Brian Daboll, who served as offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills during Singletary's run with the team.
