Josh Jacobs, Jordan Love's Fantasy Impact After Reported RB's Packers Contract
The Green Bay Packers were rewarded for their patience with quarterback Jordan Love, and now they're taking a big swing to improve the second-year starter's supporting cast.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the Packers are expected to land free-agent running back Josh Jacobs.
For a brief moment, it looked like Green Bay was constructing the league's best backfield. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported the team is releasing running back Aaron Jones, however, so Jacobs is effectively coming in as his replacement rather than a complement on the ground.

That's great news for opposing defenses in addition to any fantasy football managers making early plans to target Love and/or Jacobs.
Whereas Jacobs appeared to be entering into a time share with Jones, he'll instead be the focal point of the Packers' ground game.
The 2022 All-Pro should also benefit from joining an offense with a more stable quarterback situation compared to last year, when Jimmy Garoppolo and Aidan O'Connell were deployed as the starters for the Las Vegas Raiders.
As he entered free agency Jacobs was shaping up as a mid-to-lower-tier RB1 candidate in standard fantasy leagues. That outlook doesn't change much now that he's calling Green Bay home.
The same can be said for Love at his position.
The 2020 first-round pick steadily improved as last season unfolded. In his final eight regular-season starts, he threw for 2,150 yards and 18 touchdowns to one interception. Expectations are understandably high for 2024.
The Packers offense as a whole is poised to take a step forward with so many players in their prime or approaching their primes.
Love should be considered a fringe QB1 with a lot of upside if his second half in 2023 offered a taste of what's to come.
