Landon Dickerson, Eagles Reach Record 4-Year Contract Extension Worth Reported $84M

Joseph ZuckerMar 11, 2024

The Philadelphia Eagles announced Monday they agreed to a four-year extension with offensive guard Landon Dickerson.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the two-time Pro Bowler will receive $50 million guaranteed with an $84 million total value. His $21 million annual salary will make him the highest-paid player ever at his position.

Dickerson's original contract was due to expire after the 2024 season. Beyond preempting his free agency, Philly might have felt the need to tie him down now after longtime center Jason Kelce retired.

Replacing Kelce won't be easy, but the Eagles know one key piece of its interior offensive line is sticking around for the foreseeable future.

Dickerson's raise is well-earned. He reached a second straight Pro Bowl in 2023 and reaffirmed his status as an elite guard. ESPN's Tim McManus noted he had the best run-block win rate (81 percent) and was tied for fourth in pass-block win rate (96 percent).

Dickerson has remained relatively durable as well. He missed three games as a rookie and then was only out for one contest after undergoing thumb surgery last December. When he has played, on only three occasions has the 25-year-old failed to log at least 80 percent of the Eagles' offensive snaps.

There's always a level of risk whenever a team resets the market, especially at what isn't considered a premium position.

With Dickerson, there wasn't much question about whether Philadelphia should extend him, and the team was prepared to pay what it took to secure his signature.
