Luka Dončić's Record-Setting Triple-Double Has NBA Fans Giving Him MVP Love
Luka Dončić has put together some sensational performances for the Dallas Mavericks this season, but his latest feat landed him a spot in the history books.
On Saturday against the Detroit Pistons, Dončić notched his sixth-straight 30-point triple-double, the most consecutive 30-point triple-doubles in NBA history. He also notched an NBA-record fifth-straight 35-point triple-double.
Dončić had 39 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds in a dominant win over the Pistons on Saturday. Dončić's last game without a 30-point triple-double was Feb. 27, when he was just one rebound away from a 45-point triple-double.
This season, Dončić is averaging 34.6 points, 9.8 assists and nine rebounds per game. If his scoring average holds, it will be the highest since Kobe Bryant's 35.4 points per game in 2005-06.
Dončić and the Mavericks have made a strong push in the second half of the season and currently sit in eighth place in the Western Conference. If he can continue his ridiculous streak and help his team get a better seed come playoff time, Dončić could very well be the MVP.
