Mitchell Headed to 1st Conference Finals 🔥

To: Chicago (White Sox, Cubs and Bears) From: The Fans

Kendall WJan 3, 2009

Hey, Chicago teams, there's one thing that a lot of us fans want to tell you: GET IT DONE.

I don't want to come across as someone who tells people off when they themselves would have no hope in the same situation, but you guys are professional athletes, and I think that it's the least you can do to at least get into the playoffs or into the second round of playoffs.

First, to the White Sox. Don't think that just because you won the World Series in 2005, we're going to let you off the hook. You had to fight hard to beat your rivals and get into the playoffs this year, and that should have been enough of a driving force to get you at least to the second round.

We'll all try to remember the great '05 season, but I'm living in the present, and the present didn't turn out like we wanted. I don't care if you win or not, and I don't care if you meant better, because you were one of the three teams that let me down personally.

Second, to the Cubs. Don't get me wrong, now, I'm a huge Cubs fan. I love the Northsiders, and I'm not usually embarrassed to be a Cubs fan. I think a few people will agree with me, though, that we had a sorry second game in the NLDS, but I was one of the people in the bleachers who stayed until the very end.

I liked to think that I believed until the end, but I'm starting to doubt myself. It's been 101 one years since we’ve won. 99 and 100 years should have been a great motivator to get out and do your best. Apparently it wasn't.

When every infielder makes an error in the same game, a lot of them in the same inning, you know that something was wrong. I just think that next year we’ve got to get it.

People said last year that history was repeating itself, making it into the playoffs twice, so that meant that we would have to win. Are you sure?

Check your records again, people. The Cubs made it to the playoffs not only in 1907 and 1908, but also in 1906. For history to really repeat itself, we would have to make it into the playoffs in three consecutive years.

Meaning, if you're a superstitious person, this year would be the year. But I don't want to jinx it.

Third and lastly, to the Chicago Bears. I don't consider myself as much of a football fan as a baseball fan, but when you have a shot to make it into the playoffs and beat off your rival team, the Vikings, you've got to play your hearts out and take it!

The last time you won the Super Bowl was 20 years ago, which is not too good, but not completely bad. I'm not sure if the team knew, but before the game against Texas that got you guys kicked out of the playoffs, everyone on the pregame board was rooting for an upset where you overturned the Houston Texans.

My dad was watching the game, heartbroken when Kyle Orton could only manage to throw the ball into the stands. We have to seize the moment, guys! Now we have to sit back and watch the Vikings take on the Colts, whom we still have to get back at for beating us in the last appearance.

I don't want anybody to take this article the wrong way, but I've heard around Chicago and its suburbs the pain that the people are going through, being long time believers in these teams and getting disappointed once again.

I'm just speaking what's on a lot of people's minds, and if you don't like what I'm saying, you're probably not the only one. This is just what I think and what a lot of the people I know think, and I just believe that we should all get our opinions out there.
