Cowboys' Jerry Jones Doesn't Fear Losing Dak Prescott to FA After 2024 Season
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones isn't worried about potentially losing quarterback Dak Prescott in free agency after the 2024 season.
"I don't fear," Jones said, per Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News. "No. I don't fear that. No I do not. Well because I've got my mind on being better than we were last year and that's where the focus should be."
Prescott is set to enter the last season of his current contract, although Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones told reporters on Tuesday that the team "absolutely" wants to extend him.

Prescott currently has an extremely high cap hit of $59.455 million for the 2024 season, which could prevent the front office from making free agency splashes unless the team decides to extend him or restructure his deal.
Stephen Jones acknowledged the challenge of remaining flexible with Prescott's cap situation as well as the contracts of pass-rusher Micah Parsons and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.
"Well we've got ways to adjust his cap number for this year," Jones said in regards to Prescott, via Bobby Kownack of NFL.com. "We are, obviously, between Dak and between Micah and CeeDee, the salary cap is real for us with those three guys. [We're] in a situation where we want to do deals with all three of them."
Although the Cowboys suffered another early defeat in the playoffs by losing to the Green Bay Packers in the wild card round, the 30-year-old finished No. 2 in MVP voting.
Prescott completed 69.5 percent of his passes for 4,516 yards, with a league-leading 36 touchdowns compared to just nine interceptions. He earned the third Pro Bowl nod of his career, helping the Cowboys earn the NFC East crown during the regular season.
While Prescott's future is murky at the moment, it doesn't appear that Dallas' owner is worried about watching him walk in free agency after his 2024 campaign.
