NFL Rumors: Saquon Barkley, Giants Had 'Good' Meeting at 2024 Combine Before FA
Ahead of his impending free agency, Saquon Barkley's representatives had a "good meeting" with the New York Giants on Wednesday at the NFL Scouting Combine, per CBS Sports' Josina Anderson.
Barkley, 27, is coming off a one-year, $10.09 million contract and is set to become a free agent March 13.
Last season with the Giants, Barkley notched 962 yards and six touchdowns. The sixth-year player was just shy of reaching his second straight 1,000-yard rushing season and likely would have reached the mark had he not missed three games with an ankle injury.

While Barkley has been productive throughout his career, he has dealt with a multitude of significant injuries. He has missed at least three games in all but two of his seasons in the NFL and was limited to two games in 2020 after a torn ACL.
When he is healthy, he is one of the premier running backs in the NFL, which makes him a player to watch this offseason.
Still a few weeks away from free agency, Barkley has already been linked to a potential landing spot. Per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 in Houston, the running back has "targeted" the Houston Texans as his top potential destination in free agency. Wilson reported that Barkley has been in talks with quarterback CJ Stroud about teaming up in Houston.
Barkley could help turn the Texans from a young budding team into one that could make a deep playoff run. The club also has $69.5 million in cap space, per Over the Cap, so it wouldn't be a surprise if he ends up heading south.
For now, Barkley's representatives and the Giants will continue talks as free agency nears.
