SEC Announces 2024 Football Media Day Schedule for Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, More
The SEC football landscape has undergone seismic changes, highlighted by the additions of Oklahoma and Texas as well as the retirement of seven-time national champion head coach Nick Saban from Alabama.
Naturally, media days will be a little more eventful than usual, and the schedule is now out for the series, which will take place from Monday, July 15 through Thursday, July 18 at the Omni Hotel in Dallas.
Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger relayed the dates for this year's proceedings.
- Monday, July 15: LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Vanderbilt
- Tuesday, July 16: Georgia, Missouri, Oklahoma and Tennessee
- Wednesday, July 17: Alabama, Florida, Mississippi State and Texas
- Thursday, July 18: Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky and Texas A&M
All 16 head coaches will speak, including Alabama's Kalen DeBoer, the former Washington leader who has since taken over for Saban.
The SEC had at least one participant in the College Football Playoff championship game for the past eight years leading into last season, but that didn't happen in 2023 after conference champion Alabama fell to Michigan in the semifinals.
Still, this appears to be the best conference in football once again on paper heading into 2024, and more teams should enter the national spotlight down the stretch with the CFP expanding from four to 12 this year.
It should stay that way moving forward as well. Six of the top 10 recruiting classes of 2024, per 247Sports, are from SEC schools. Unsurprisingly, Georgia is No. 1, while Alabama is No. 2.
Ultimately, the SEC still stands as the powerhouse league in college athletics' biggest sport and spectacle, and media days provide a window looking into a potentially fantastic season with all 16 coaches taking the podium.
