WWE 2K24: Details on Top Modes, New Gameplay Options and Superstars
WWE 2K24 will hit store shelves on Thursday, March 8, with the option for fans to play as soon as Monday, March 5 if they purchase the Deluxe or 40 Years of WrestleMania edition, and will feature several new additions.
There is the 2K Showcase of the Immortals mode, which will allow players to relive some of the greatest matches in WrestleMania history, including Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant's epic encounter from the third installment and the all-time great showdown between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels from WrestleMania 25.
Fans will have the opportunity to compete in new match types, too.
The Gauntlet Match will test a competitor's endurance, putting them through the ringer against multiple opponents, whom they will have to defeat one by one. The Ambulance Match will force players to beat their opponents so badly that they can stuff them in the back of an ambulance and drive them out of the arena.
Then there is the return of the Casket Match, a specialty of The Undertaker for many years on WWE television. Like the ambulance gimmick, the idea is to incapacitate one's opponent and shove them in the casket, closing the lid to secure the victory.
Fans will be able to take a created Superstar in the MyRISE mode through the journey of being in WWE, from Performance Center recruit to the main event of WrestleMania. They can build factions in the MyFACTION mode and even create feuds and storylines as part of the Universe mode.
For those who want the experience of running the day-to-day business of the WWE, there is the MyGM mode, where players can draft their rosters, build their rivalries, spend on arena lighting and venues, and balance the many different interactions with Superstars...all while competing against an opposing GM.
The always-controversial rating system in WWE's 2K franchise has struck again, with the following main roster Superstars being ranked the highest in this year's offering:
- Roman Reigns (97)
- Rhea Ripley (96)
- Bianca Belair (95)
- Becky Lynch (94)
- Cody Rhodes (93)
- Seth "Freakin" Rollins (93)
- Charlotte Flair (92)
- Randy Orton (91)
- Gunther (90)
- Logan Paul (90)
- Jey Uso (90)
Superstars making their first appearances in the game include the likes of "Big" Bronson Reed, Isla Dawn, Chelsea Green, and Maxxine Dupri.
As announced Monday night on WWE Raw, CM Punk headlines this year's DLC offerings, which also include current Women's Tag Team Champion Kairi Sane, Jade Cargill, Pat McAfee, reigning NXT Women's Champion Lyra Valkyria, and yes, soundtrack curator Post Malone.
There is no shortage of iconic matches to recreate, first-time battles to be had, and exciting new modes for fans to play in this year's game as WWE and 2K Games look to build upon the positive momentum created by last year's return to form.
