Heat's Jimmy Butler Appears in Fall Out Boy's 'So Much (for) Stardust' Music Video
After showing off his emo hairstyle during NBA media days prior to the start of the 2023-24 season, Jimmy Butler is now starring in a music video for emo-pop band Fall Out Boy.
The band released the official music video for "So Much (For) Stardust" on Wednesday featuring the Miami Heat star.
Fall Out Boy also announced the video on X by joking the band was changing its name to "ball out boy."
When Butler arrived to the Heat's media day on Oct. 2 sporting a new look, he explained that it was his "emo state" of being.
"I'm very emotional right now. This is my emo state and I like this. This is me," he said. "This is how I'm feeling as of late."
While Butler's teammates had a good chuckle at the hairstyle, his mood may have been the product of how things finished for the Heat last season. They did make a run to the NBA Finals as the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference but came up short in their quest for a title with a loss to the Denver Nuggets in five games.
Butler brought back the hairstyle while adding some very stylish cowboy clothing to star in the music video for Fall Out Boy's new single from their studio album that was released in March 2023.
The song is about the struggle to find meaning in life and having lost love, with lyrics like "Thought we had it all, thought we had it all, thought we had it all/I need the sound of crowds or I can't fall asleep at night."
Butler may have been feeling like that coming off the 2023 NBA Finals and is still trying to reach the top of the basketball mountain for the first time in his career.
