Raiders Rumors: Josh Jacobs Not Expected to Get $14.1M Franchise Tag Ahead of NFL FA
The Las Vegas Raiders will attempt to re-sign soon-to-be free agent Josh Jacobs but will not use their franchise tag on him, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
A franchise tag for Jacobs would cost the Raiders $14,149,200, Schefter reported. The fifth-year running back is coming off a one-year, $11.79 million contract for the 2023 season.
Jacobs, who has spent his entire career with the Raiders, had the fewest yards and touchdowns of his career last season, recording 805 rushing yards and six touchdowns. He suffered a quad injury in December that kept him out of the final four games of the regular season.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
In his last full 17-game season in 2022, Jacobs was among the top running backs in the NFL. He led the league in rushing yards with 1,653 and had 12 touchdowns on the ground, which was tied for the fifth most.
The former first-round pick out of Alabama will likely have the choice to return to Las Vegas, but should have his choice of teams this free agency if he decides to go elsewhere.
With Las Vegas choosing not to tag Jacobs, it adds to a list of big names set to be on the free agent market. Along with Jacobs, Saquon Barkley, Tony Pollard, Derrick Henry and Austin Ekeler will all be free agents this offseason.
