Ex-NFLer Blake Proehl Prefers Grammy Award to Super Bowl Ring amid American Idol Run
Former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Blake Proehl is pursuing a music career and is currently in the midst of an impressive run on the popular singing competition show American Idol.
When asked to choose between winning a Grammy Award or a Super Bowl ring, Proehl didn't hesitate to answer.
"I'd probably choose a Grammy to be honest," he said, per TMZ Sports. "My old self would really be mad at me right now, but I just have really fallen in love with music and I chose this. So, it would be a Grammy."
Proehl signed with the Vikings as an as an undrafted free agent after the 2021 NFL Draft, but a torn ACL suffered in joint practices cost him his entire rookie season. Although he was able to return and sign to Minnesota's practice squad, he told TMZ Sports that the injury did not affect his decision to switch careers and he "chose music over football."
The 25-year-old impressed American Idol judges as he performed "In Case You Didn't Know" by Brett Young in his audition, receiving a golden ticket which meant that he advanced to the next round of the competition.
While his football career may be over, Proehl's pursuit of his singing career is already promising.
