WWE's Elimination Chamber Cage Travel Plans Disrupted by Pirates on Way to Australia

WWE lead play-by-play announcer Michael Cole divulged Friday that pirates occupying the Suez Canal caused a delay in WWE shipping the Elimination Chamber structure to Perth, Australia, for Saturday's Elimination Chamber premium live event.

Speaking at Friday's Elimination Chamber press conference in Perth (beginning at the 3:20 mark), Cole said the Chamber structure took over a month to arrive in Australia because of pirates forcing WWE to change its shipping plans:

Cole noted that the structure was shipped to Miami, then taken to Los Angeles via truck, then transported by ship to Sydney before finally arriving in Perth by train.

Elimination Chamber marks the first premium live event to be held in Australia since Super Show-Down took place in Melbourne in October 2018.

Saturday's event will have major implications for WrestleMania 40 in April, especially when it comes to the results of the men's and women's Elimination Chamber matches.

The winner of the men's Chamber will challenge Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania, while the winner of the women's Chamber will compete for the Women's World Championship on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

Arguably the biggest match on the card is Australia's own Rhea Ripley defending the women's world title against Nia Jax, who was also born in Australia before growing up in Hawaii.

Elimination Chamber will air live on Peacock early Saturday morning, beginning at 5 a.m. ET.
