New weird trend in college football: Head coaches are running from responsibility.

In other words ... college has become so chaotic, many this offseason have willfully taken demotions in the NFL or with other college staffs.

• Chip Kelly left his HC job at UCLA to be OC at Ohio State 

• BC HC Jeff Hafley left college to become the Packers' DC
• Two FBS HCs left their jobs to be assistants at Alabama
  

• One FBS HC left his 10-win team to consult at Vanderbilt(!)

'I don't have to raise NIL money,' he told CBS sports.

Why it's so chaotic: Recruiting is year-round, the transfer portal is a non-stop threat, the best players need to be paid, and antitrust lawsuits loom over the sport.

Why it's still worth it: The money.
