Bears' Justin Fields Says Falcons 'Definitely Got Some Guys' Amid NFL Trade Rumors

Paul KasabianFeb 21, 2024

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields, who has been the subject of trade rumors, praised the talent on the Atlanta Falcons (one of the teams most heavily connected to him) during the St. Brown Brothers podcast, saying "they definitely got some guys over there."

"...I think they got a lot of playmakers on the team," Fields said.

"Of course, Bijan, they've got my boy Kyle [Pitts], and of course Drake [London]. They probably need one more receiver, but they definitely got some guys over there. And their defense was good this year too."

The Bears hold the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft and could very well use the choice to take a blue-chip rookie, such as USC's Caleb Williams.

Fields, who is entering his fourth NFL season, could then very well find his way out of town via trade. One logical suitor is the Falcons, who are in need of a long-term solution at signal-caller.

Fields, who was born and raised in Georgia, made clear on the podcast that his preference is to stay in Chicago, noting his love for the city and fans and that he can't see himself playing anywhere else.

However, the smoke connecting Fields elsewhere is hard to ignore. Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda mentioned the Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers and Las Vegas Raiders as possibilities.

And Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune recently wrote that "there is no internal debate in which the Bears are kicking around the idea of keeping Justin Fields...the whole Fields versus Caleb Williams debate is a pointless exercise."

So it almost appears as if it's a matter of when and where Fields goes next season. Atlanta could certainly be a good fit, as he'd be surrounded by some exciting first-round draft talents in running back Bijan Robinson, wide receiver Drake London and tight end Kyle Pitts.

The Falcons certainly didn't get the most out of that trio last year in the final season of the Arthur Smith era, but perhaps that will change under new head coach Raheem Morris and offensive coordinator Zac Robinson. And if Fields is in the mix, then Atlanta could be in for an exciting season and maybe its first playoff appearance since 2017.
