Bucks' Damian Lillard Picks Starting 5 of Current NBA Players; Giannis Left Off List

Andrew PetersFeb 19, 2024

Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard revealed his choices for a starting five of current players, with his lineup featuring some of the top players in the league.

In an interview on TikTok with NelsonTheProdigy_, Lillard said that if he could create a starting five, it would include himself, Steph Curry, LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Bam Adebayo.

The star-studded list should come as no surprise, and Lillard even had the chance to team up with Adebayo over the weekend in the All-Star Game, so that could have influenced why included the Miami Heat star on his list.

Notably, Lillard didn't include his own star teammate, Giannis Antetokounmpo, in the starting lineup. Antetokounmpo, who Lillard teamed up with in Milwaukee over the offseason, has certainly established himself among the league's best players, and that hasn't changed this year. The star is averaging 30.8 points, 11.2 and 6.4 assists per game this year and is looking to lead the Bucks to another championship.

Perhaps Lillard's list was more of a nod to the stars he included rather than any sort of slight to Antetokounmpo.

Regardless, Lillard and Antetokounmpo are looking to close out the season strong. The Bucks sit in third place in the Eastern Conference at 35-21, but they've gotten off to a rocky start in the Doc Rivers era, losing seven of 10 since he took over as head coach.

The Bucks will be back in action on Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves and will be looking to come out of the All-Star break with a win.
