Montez Ford '100%' Wants UFC Fight, Bianca Belair Open to WWE Match vs. UFC Stars
After attending UFC 298 in Anaheim on Saturday, WWE Superstars Montez Ford and Bianca Belair are interested in trying their hand at mixed martial arts in the future, to varying degrees.
While speaking to Caroline Pearce of TNT Sports, Ford said he would love the opportunity to be the next wrestler to enter the Octagon.
"100 percent I will say, I've always been a fan of it, always been training for it, Ford said (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News). "It is something I was talking about in the last two years about actually going over and having a match, seeing CM Punk, Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley, doing different promotions. Something I had interest in but it got shut down quickly by um, (coughs)."
Ford's cough was referring to Belair, his wife. While she is a former CrossFit competitor and one of the best athletes in WWE, Belair said she would prefer to face UFC stars in the ring, not the Octagon.
"I see myself training for it," she said (h/t Ella Jay of Wrestling Inc.). "I have a lot of respect for what they do, just like I think they have a lot of respect for what we do, which is amazing that we're here tonight and then we have 'Raw' here on Monday. I would love to train and get the skills that they have. I've been in the ring with some women that have some of this background, like Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler, and they are tough."
Belair continued: "I would love to have some skills that they have, but as far as competing, I think I'm good in the WWE ring. If they want to come over to a WWE ring like Ronda Rousey did, come meet me there and we can see what we do. But as far as that goes, I think training is as far as I will go."
