Lakers' Anthony Davis Says He'd Accept 2024 Olympics Invite from USA Basketball

Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis would accept an invitation to play on Team USA in the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Davis, a nine-time All-Star, has averaged 24.9 points, 12.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists this season. The 30-year-old previously represented Team USA at the 2012 Summer Olympics, helping the United States win gold in London.

Davis has previously expressed his interest in playing for Team USA in 2024, notably doing so at the Lakers' preseason media day during an interview with Spectrum Sportsnet (9:40 mark) back in October.

"Bron asked me last year and I told him, 'If they ask me, I'm in.' So, I'm just waiting on that ask," Davis said.

Davis' Lakers teammate, LeBron James, has led the charge to recruit a superstar team for 2024.

Shams Charania and Joe Vardon of The Athletic reported in October that James "has so strong an interest in one more Olympics that he is ready to commit for next summer and has also called multiple stars to essentially recruit them to join him with USAB in Paris." Names on that star list include Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Jayson Tatum and Davis.

Davis hasn't played for Team USA since the 2014 FIBA World Cup, but that appears likely to change this summer as the Americans look for their fifth straight Olympic gold medal in men's hoops.
