LeBron James, Lakers' Jerseys from 2024 NBA IST Semifinal Win to Be Sold at Auction
Jerseys worn by every Los Angeles Lakers player during their semifinal win over the New Orleans Pelicans in the inaugural 2023-24 NBA In-Season Tournament hit the auction block this week.
According to sports business reporter Darren Rovell, Sotheby's is auctioning off 13 Lakers jerseys from the IST victory against the Pels, and the starting bid is $200,000:
The LeBron James and Anthony Davis jerseys are the big-ticket items in the lot, but the winning bidder will also receive jerseys worn by Austin Reaves, D'Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Jaxson Hayes, Taurean Prince, Jarred Vanderbilt, Christian Wood, Max Christie, Cam Reddish, Maxwell Lewis and Jalen Hood-Schifino.
After going 4-0 in group play for the In-Season Tournament, the Lakers edged past the Phoenix Suns 106-103 in the quarterfinals to reach the semis.
When L.A. and New Orleans met in the semifinals on Dec. 7 in Las Vegas, it was a hugely one-sided affair with the Lakers scoring a 133-89 blowout win.
Six Lakers scored in double figures in the win, including James, who led all scorers with 30 points and added eight assists and five rebounds.
AD contributed a double-double as well, finishing with 16 points and 15 rebounds, as the Lakers reached the finals.
L.A. finished the job on Dec. 9, beating the Indiana Pacers 123-109 to establish itself as the first In-Season Tournament champion in NBA history.
While winning the In-Season Tournament doesn't live up to James and Davis leading the Lakers to an NBA championship in 2020, it is a piece of Lakers and NBA history nonetheless, and the set of jerseys promises to be highly sought after because of that.
