Clippers' Kawhi Leonard's All-Star Game Status Unknown with Adductor Injury, Lue Says

It remains to be seen whether Kawhi Leonard will play in Sunday's NBA All-Star Game.

Los Angeles Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue said he doesn't believe Leonard's adductor injury is particularly serious but also isn't sure if the forward will play in this year's All-Star Game, per ESPN's Kendra Andrews.

Leonard was already ruled out of Wednesday's game against the Golden State Warriors.

"Leonard's adductor strain injury came pretty out of nowhere," Farbod Esnaashari of FanNation reported. "He seemed pretty okay yesterday, and most of the guys didn't know anything about it last night."

Injuries are nothing new for the six-time All-Star, who missed the 2021-22 campaign with an ACL setback and hasn't played more than 60 games in a season since the 2016-17 one when he was still a member of the San Antonio Spurs.

However, he has been fairly healthy this season and is averaging 24.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.7 steals behind 52.7 percent shooting from the field and 45.3 percent shooting from deep in 48 games this season.

Leonard, along with teammate Paul George, was named a Western Conference reserve for this year's All-Star Game in Indianapolis.

While the Clippers will miss him in Wednesday's contest, the timing of the setback at least gives him plenty of time to rest before the stretch run of the season. Having him healthy for the final playoff push is far more important for Los Angeles than whether he can play in Sunday's exhibition, especially since the team is playing so well.

The Clippers are 35-17 and just two games behind the Minnesota Timberwolves for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.
