Craig Porter Jr., Cavs Agree to 4-Year Contract amid CLE Hot Streak

The dream continues for Craig Porter Jr.

Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported the Cleveland Cavaliers signed the two-way player to a new four-year contract. The undrafted rookie has appeared in 32 games with five starts for a Cleveland team that is battling for position near the top of the Eastern Conference.

Porter is averaging 6.5 points, 2.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 14.7 minutes per game while shooting 50.9 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from deep this season.

He helped the Cavaliers tread water when they dealt with injury concerns earlier in the season and even had 21 points during an In-Season Tournament game against the reigning-champion Denver Nuggets in November.

It was one of five consecutive games with double-digit scoring totals for Porter.

While the guard also had 19 points, eight assists and seven rebounds during a December win over the Chicago Bulls, he has seen far less playing time of late as Cleveland continues to play at a high level.

In fact, he has played seven total minutes while going scoreless in three February games.

Still, the Cavaliers clearly value the depth he brings to the team given this move.

As for the team as a whole, Cleveland is 17-2 in its last 19 games. The red-hot play has elevated it to 35-17 overall and the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland have helped lead the way, but Porter is waiting on the bench if needed.

And now he will be waiting with a new contract.
