Patrick Mahomes Says Super Bowl 58 Win Is 'Start of' Chiefs Dynasty: 'We're Not Done'

After leading the Kansas City Chiefs to their second straight championship with a 25-22 overtime win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes still wants more.

When asked after the game if the Chiefs are becoming a dynasty, Mahomes replied, "Yeah, it's the start of one. We're not done. I know we're gonna celebrate tonight, celebrate at the parade Wednesday in Kansas City, but we're not done. We've got a young team, we're gonna keep this thing going."

Mahomes and the Chiefs have now won Super Bowls in three of the last five years. They are the first team to repeat as champion since the New England Patriots in 2003-04, and they are hungry for more.

Mahomes was named Super Bowl MVP for the second straight year after throwing for 333 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He led a game-tying drive at the end of regulation that forced overtime with a field goal by Harrison Butker, and he found Mecole Hardman Jr. for the game-winning touchdown in the extra period.

In seven years in the NFL and six as a full-time starting quarterback, Mahomes already has three Super Bowl titles, tying him with Troy Aikman for fourth all-time. He is one away from tying Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw for second all-time, and it's not farfetched to believe he has a legitimate chance at chasing down Tom Brady's all-time record of seven championship rings.

This year's Chiefs team featured a strong blend of youth and experience, so it will have a great chance of keeping its core together this offseason. As long as Mahomes is under center, Kansas City should be considered one of the favorites to win it all.

For now, the Chiefs will celebrate their Super Bowl LVIII win, but it won't be long before they start gearing up for another title chase next season.
