Biggest Questions Surrounding 2026 NFL Season After the Draft 🤔
Kansas City benefited from a fumble on a 49ers punt return to set up shop deep inside 49ers territory.
Until that point, the Chiefs struggled to get anywhere close to the red zone against the 49ers defense.
Mahomes and Co. did enough earlier in the third quarter to set up Harrison Butker's second field goal of the game.
Butker beat Jake Moody's all-time Super Bowl record for field goal length, which was set in the second quarter, by two yards with his 57-yard field goal.
Butker's kick looked like it ran out of steam, but it found a way over the goal posts to cut the deficit to four.
San Francisco did not do anything of note on its three completed drives in the third quarter. One of those series failed to capitalize on an interception by Ji'Ayir Brown on Kansas City's first series of the period.
The 49ers started to gain some ground on a series that extended into the fourth quarter.
Kyle Shanahan's team got just over midfield prior to the conclusion of the third.
