Video: Celtics' Jaylen Brown Calls Out Heat's Duncan Robinson for Flagrant Foul

Jack MurrayFeb 11, 2024

The tension between Jaylen Brown and Duncan Robinson was on full display during the Boston Celtics-Miami Heat game Sunday.

The Celtics won the matchup 110-106, and a fourth-quarter entanglement between Brown and Robinson led to a flagrant foul being issued to Brown and Robinson needing some assistance.

The two were wrapped up and Brown appeared to throw Robinson to the ground as he attempted to disengage from the armlock.

"I think he knew exactly what he was trying to do," Brown said. "He was trying to get tangled up, etcetera, because he didn't want to play defense and they called a foul but he was still trying to hang on and I wanted to get my arm free."

Robinson referred to the play as "dirty" and said that actions like that are "how people miss whole seasons."

The Heat and Celtics rivalry has been among the most heated in the Eastern Conference in the 21st century. The conflict has existed in the current iterations of the teams but also dates back to the Heat's "Big 3" era and the Celtics' success in the later 2000s.

Miami notably knocked Boston out of the Playoffs in 2022-23 during the Conference Finals, which avenged the previous season when the Celtics took down the Heat in the Conference Finals.

Another playoff matchup could be in the cards this season as well. Boston is currently 41-12 and in first place in the Eastern Conference. Miami, on the other hand, is 28-25 and in eighth place.

This could potentially set up a first-round matchup in the postseason. The regular season series is over however, with Boston taking all three matchups.
