Video: Jey Uso, Bayley, R-Truth and WWE Stars Pick 49ers vs. Chiefs Super Bowl Winner
Several WWE Superstars made their picks for Sunday's Super Bowl LVIII clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers in a video posted on X.
Jey Uso, 2024 women's Royal Rumble winner Bayley, Dominik Mysterio and Otis chose the Niners, while R-Truth, Baron Corbin, Carlito, SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis, ring announcer Samantha Irvin and backstage interviewer Byron Saxton went with the Chiefs.
Some of the picks were obvious since Uso and Bayley are known to be diehard 49ers fans, and Corbin is a longtime Chiefs fan.
While the 49ers are slight betting favorites entering the game, recent history is very much on the Chiefs' side.
Led by a pair of likely future Hall of Famers in quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce, as well as a future Hall of Fame head coach in Andy Reid, the Chiefs are set to play in their fourth Super Bowl in the past five seasons.
With a win, KC will have won two Super Bowls in a row and three in five seasons, which is a run of success not seen since the Tom Brady and Bill Belichick-led New England Patriots.
As for the 49ers, they have not won a Super Bowl since the 1994 season, and their most recent Super Bowl appearance saw them lose to Mahomes, Kelce, Reid and the Chiefs in 2019.
However, the Niners have been a better team than the Chiefs throughout the 2023 season, and they have experienced a significant upgrade at quarterback since 2019.
Brock Purdy, a 2022 seventh-round pick, was an NFL MVP finalist this season, plus he is surrounded by elite weapons in the form of running back Christian McCaffrey, wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel and tight end George Kittle, plus a top-flight defense.
Super Bowl LVIII could come down to whether the best player on the field in Mahomes is able to beat the best all-around team in the 49ers.
