Video: Warriors' Draymond Green Blasts Suns' Jusuf Nurkić for 'Too Small' Taunt

Tyler ConwayFeb 11, 2024

There is clearly no love lost between the Golden State Warriors' Draymond Green and the Phoenix Suns' Jusuf Nurkić.

Playing for the first time since Green was suspended for hitting Nurkić in the face in December, the two spent Saturday night attempting to bully one another, trading taunts and insults after the Golden State Warriors' 113-112 victory over the Phoenix Suns.

Green threw a barb Nurkić's way after the Suns center did the "too small" celebration in his direction.

"You can't get bullied a couple plays later if you're gonna do that," Green said. "You can't be a nothing defender if you're gonna do that. You gonna do all that, you probably outweigh me by 70 pounds, and you get put in the rim? Got to be more careful."

Nurkić, who was supportive as Green sought counseling during his suspension for repeated acts of on-court violence, said he does not believe the Warriors forward has changed.

"It's sad. He didn't learn anything," Nurkić said. "Just a matter of time. He's going to hit somebody else again. Take back everything I said. He don't deserve a chance."

Green finished with 15 points, nine assists and seven rebounds in one of his best all-around performances of the season. Nurkić was was limited to six points, six rebounds and four assists, making more of an impact with his taunts than his effort on the floor.

The Suns and Warriors will not play again during the regular season, and their odds of running into each other in the playoffs are low at this point. Golden State just slid into the No. 10 seed with Saturday's win, while Phoenix currently sits in the No. 6 slot. It would take a strong run from both teams to meet in the playoffs at this rate, though the series would be one for the ages if they manage to play again.
