Victor Wembanyama and All Contestants Revealed for 2024 NBA Skills Competition
The 2024 NBA All-Star Game is right around the corner, and the league announced Thursday the participants in this year's skills competition which features the Skills Challenge, 3-Point and Slam Dunk Contests.
Golden State Warriors veteran Stephen Curry and New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu will also compete in the new three-point challenge.
The Skills Challenge is highlighted by San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama, and the 3-Point Contest features the likes of Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard and Indiana Pacers standout Tyrese Haliburton.

While the hype surrounding the Slam Dunk Contest has died down over the last few years with no big stars having competed in the event, Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown is hoping to change the narrative by highlighting this year's competition.
Here's a look at all the participants in each event.
Skills Challenge
- Team Top Picks: Victor Wembanyama (San Antonio Spurs), Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), Paolo Banchero (Orlando Magic).
- Team Pacers: Tyrese Halburton, Myles Turner, Bennedict Mathurin.
- Team All-Stars: Scottie Barnes (Toronto Raptors), Tyrese Maxey (Philadelphia 76ers), Trae Young (Atlanta Hawks).
The hometown Pacers team will be a fan-favorite, but the team with Wembanyama could be the frontrunner to win the event given the fact the Spurs rookie can do it all with ease. The Skills Challenge is all about putting passing, dribbling and shooting to the test, and Wembanyama is one of the best in each category.
However, it's worth mentioning that at the last two All-Star Weekends, the all-Cavaliers team won the Skills Challenge in front of their hometown fans in Cleveland and the all-Jazz team won the event in front of their fans in Utah.
Will the Pacers have the upper-hand in this year's event?
3-Point Contest
- Damian Lillard, Milwaukee Bucks
- Tyrese Haliburton, Indiana Pacers
- Donovan Mitchell, Cleveland Cavaliers
- Malik Beasley, Milwaukee Bucks
- Jalen Brunson, New York Knicks
- Lauri Markkanen, Utah Jazz
- Trae Young, Atlanta Hawks
- Karl-Anthony Towns, Minnesota Timberwolves
Lillard should be the favorite in this year's 3-Point Contest after taking home the crown last season. He's shooting just 34.7 percent from deep in his first season with the Bucks, but he has a career percentage of 37.1 percent from range.
Haliburton also participated in the event last season, but he's hoping to win it all on his home court at Gainbridge Fieldhouse this year. He's shooting 39.7 percent from deep this season and boasts a career mark of 40.5 percent from beyond the arc.
Brunson could be Lillard's biggest threat to repeating as the 3-Point Contest champion. Since joining the Knicks ahead of the 2022-23 campaign, he's shooting 41.3 percent from deep. Through 49 games this season, he's shooting 41.1 percent from range.
Slam Dunk Contest
- Jaylen Brown, Boston Celtics
- Jaime Jaquez Jr., Miami Heat
- Mac McClung, Oscela Magic (G League)
- Jacob Toppin, Westchester Knicks (G League)
McClung is the reigning Slam Dunk Contest champion. He hasn't been able to stick on an NBA roster, but he'll be the favorite to repeat as the winner after a flashy performance last season that got fans on their feet.
However, Toppin could be a threat to dethrone McClung. His brother, Pacers forward Obi Toppin, won the event in 2022 and is sure to give Jacob some tips on how to impress the judges.
The 2024 NBA All-Star Skills Competition will take place on Feb. 17 at 8 p.m. ET before the All-Star Game on Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. ET.
