College Football Recruiting Rankings: Top 2024 Schools Post-National Signing Day
The college football early signing period came and passed in December. Traditional national signing day occurred Wednesday. The 2024 recruiting cycle is winding down, with the majority of eligible high schoolers having signed their national letters of intent.
It should come as no surprise that Georgia and Alabama (a pair of SEC powerhouses) were again dominant on the recruiting trail. The Bulldogs and the Crimson Tide are ranked Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, in the 247Sports team rankings for the 2024 class.
The college programs that were successful in their recruiting efforts over the past year have now set themselves up for success.
Here's a look at the top three programs in 247Sports' 2024 team rankings now that national signing day has passed.
1. Georgia
1 of 3
Georgia finished second to Alabama in the 2023 recruiting cycle, but this time, the Bulldogs have ended on top. Their 2024 class features five 5-star players, tied with the Crimson Tide for the most by any program.
Of those five 5-stars, the headliner is cornerback Ellis Robinson IV out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. He is the No. 2 overall recruit in the 2024 class.
The rest of Georgia's class is rounded out with 19 4-star recruits and four 3-stars. It was a quiet national signing day for the Bulldogs, but that didn't matter because they had already gotten their recruiting work done prior to that.
With a stacked 2024 class, Georgia is set up to continue its run of recent success.
2. Alabama
2 of 3
Alabama's strong 2024 recruiting class was mostly a product of the work done by former head coach Nick Saban, who retired in January. But new Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer kept the bulk of it intact and added a few players.
Following Saban's retirement, 5-star wide receiver Ryan Williams decommitted from Alabama on Jan. 10. He then recommitted to the Tide two weeks later and signed his letter of intent on Wednesday. It was hugely important for DeBoer to keep Williams, who is the No. 4 overall recruit in the class.
On national signing day, Alabama had three signees: Williams, 4-star edge-rusher Noah Carter and 3-star linebacker Quinton Reese. Carter had previously signed with Washington, but he asked for his release and is now following DeBoer to Alabama.
The Crimson Tide have reloaded with top talent once again, which should greatly help DeBoer as he adjusts to his first job in the SEC.
3. Oregon
3 of 3
Oregon didn't land any 5-star recruits in its 2024 class. Yet, it placed No. 3 in the 247Sports composite team rankings because it landed 22 4-star players and five 3-stars.
It was the best showing on the recruiting trail thus far by Ducks head coach Dan Lanning, who is heading into his third season at the helm.
The top player in Oregon's 2024 class is 4-star wide receiver Gatlin Bair, who is the No. 43 overall recruit. The Idaho native didn't commit to the Ducks until this past Saturday, and then he signed with them Wednesday.
As Oregon joins the Big Ten this year, it will need a lot of talented players to remain competitive. This recruiting performance could help the Ducks continue to excel.
