Wiggins Impresses NBA Fans Amid Trade Rumors as Curry, Warriors Top Embiid-Less 76ers
Golden State Warriors veteran Andrew Wiggins heard his name in trade rumors and decided to put together one of his best performances of the season ahead of Thursday's deadline in an effort to prove his worth to the franchise.
Wiggins helped lead the Warriors to a 127-104 win over the Joel Embiid-less Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Center. Embiid remains sidelined after undergoing knee surgery on a meniscus injury.
On a night where Stephen Curry finished with just nine points, three rebounds and one assist, Wiggins balled out, finishing with 21 points, 10 rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block to help Golden State improve to 23-25 on the season.
With Wiggins having been included in trade rumors this winter, NBA fans were quick to praise the veteran forward for his performance:
Wiggins has been linked to the Milwaukee Bucks and Dallas Mavericks ahead of the trade deadline.
However, Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports reported that "in order for Milwaukee to reach Wiggins' $24.3 million salary, the Bucks would need to include forward Bobby Portis in any outgoing package, and Milwaukee, sources said, is going to think long and hard before sacrificing Portis in any deal at this deadline."
Wiggins is having a down season, but he would still be a solid addition to any title contender if the Warriors opt to move on. He entered Wednesday's game averaging 12.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 42 games while shooting 43.7 percent from the floor and 31.1 percent from deep.
